The Nature Conservancy – the Foundation pledged to fund the remediation of environmental harm caused by an abandoned marina project at the Ashton Lagoon in Union Island, St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The project supported mangrove and lagoon restoration works conducted by TNC and Sustainable Grenadines, a local environmental protection NGO. Phase 1, financed by the Foundation has been completed in December 2017 as indicated in the final report (see PDF file below).

Since then, Sustainable Grenadines has attracted significant funding to expand the remediation work and turned the lagoon into an eco-tourism attraction, complete with birdwatching, mangrove and coral restoration, apiculture, kitesurfing, and kayaking.
